Whenever you show off some really impressive numbers do also mention some related numbers to compare.

I.e. when you’re saying that a week of ash cloud related problems costed airlines  1.7 billion dollars, tell us what their weekly or monthly revenue is to really realize how big the thing is.

  1. Totally agree with this. When user / reader can’t connect the given data with anything that he previously knows (or had experienced), the given data is useless. The example of the losses because of the ash cloud could be simplified as the number of “lost” airline tickets or some similiar unit that actually connects all the people who fly.
